Attention High School Seniors! | San Antonio Senior Portrait Photographer

Calling all High School Seniors in and around San Antonio! I am looking for a few fresh faces for the 2012 graduating class and I’m giving away a free–yes, FREE–photo session to TWO lucky seniors. The only catch is you have to agree to let me use your photos on my website, print media, etc. by signing a model release (signed by parent if you are under 18). It includes two locations of your choice in San Antonio and up to three wardrobe changes. You MUST be available September 8th or September 9th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm to win.

After the session:

  • I will post previews to my Facebook page and you can tag yourself in the photos. I will also send you a web/email resolution (read: small) JPG file of the preview images I post to Facebook for you to keep.
  • You will have a private proofing gallery posted for two weeks to see the photos from your session. You are absolutely not obligated to order anything.
  • You get 50 custom made rep cards for giving to friends. Each friend that books a paid session naming you as a referrer gives you $25.00 in print creditsthat’s up to $1,250.00 in print credits if every single one of your friends books a session! The credits can be applied toward purchases from your free session. This means you may not even have to pay a dime for your session or prints if you get enough referrals!
  • You get a cool video of your images posted online to share with friends and family.

All of this free (saving you $175.00) plus the potential to earn up to $1,250 in print credits!

Comment on this blog entry (NOT on Facebook) and tell me what you would like to do after high school in 150 words or less.

The fine print: Entries accepted through Monday, September 5th at midnight CST must be submitted by an individual 18 or older (or with prior parental consent). Open to any individual living in San Antonio or within a 20 mile radius of San Antonio currently enrolled in their last year of high school education or the equivalent.  Winner must be available for photo session on either September 8th or 9th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and must agree to a model release. Unsigned model releases will result in a forfeiture of the photo session. And finally, print credits from referrals cannot be applied to digital images.

Winners will be chosen at random using the number generator and announced Monday morning at 9am. The winners must contact me when their names are announced on Monday and you will have 24 hours to contact me before your spot is given to someone else–and that would really suck.

So if you are a high school senior or know any high school seniors looking for a modern & artistic look to their senior portraits, leave a comment, and share this post with your friends!

Birthday Parties

Both of my children recently had their birthdays and I’ve really gotten carried away with having the perfect party for them. It’s not a secret that I’m a perfectionist. I like everything to look perfect: photographs, books on a shelf, handwriting… parties are no exception. I mean when you have inspiration thrown at you from so many different directions (Pinterest, blogs, other friends’ parties), you have to run with it, right?

My little girl has been in love with Toy Story, Jesse in particular. So we had a Toy Story cowgirl-themed party for her complete with a petting zoo, bales of hay for seating, and a pony. It was my little man’s first birthday and we I decided to have a little airplane party for him with the saying “time flies” because it seriously flew by. Anyhow, I didn’t get it quite perfect on my poor daughter’s party because I didn’t start early enough with all the little details. I like to think that my sweet boy’s party is getting me a little closer, especially since I started the party planning for his almost immediately after the cowgirl party was cleaned up.

I really think I’ve found another part of my life that allows me to let the creative side flow and I’m totally embracing it; at least until my kids start having their own ideas of what their perfect party is.

So this post brings me to something that I might consider offering as a new product at The Best Memories: custom invitation design.

All the Love in the Universe

I’ve been wanting to paint for a while now. My husband and children bought me a couple of canvasses, some acrylic paint, and paintbrushes for mother’s day just waiting to see what would become of them. I’m glad to say that it only took me a little over two months to finally start and finish something. This will be an addition to my future dream living room of yellow, grey, and white; and I cannot wait to redecorate the place.

Higgs Holidays | Family Photography

So I am lucky enough to have married into a beautiful family both inside and out. This beautiful family is my brother-in-law’s family; they make it so easy to capture such pretty images because they’re…well, pretty. They have the cutest kids around and my children ADORE their older cousins. I have to admit I was hesitant about taking photographs involving horses because I’ve never done it and don’t know how easy to maneuver and position they are. Luckily, the stable they brought me too had everything set up and all I had to worry about was taking the pictures.

Ryan & Kim | Wedding Photography

Since having a second child and definitely since my family recently got a puppy, I’m no longer doing weddings. As much as I love shooting weddings, I just don’t have the time anymore; however, I may be talked into it if you are super patient like the wonderful couple in the video below.:)

Meet Ryan and Kim: two brilliant minds and one cute couple that is so completely in love. Seriously, in the many, many hours I have spent editing their photos, I cannot get over how they look at each other. Enjoy!
